I was raised in Dubuque Iowa with Dubuque Greyhound Park and have always loved these dogs. I did not, however, like their lives after racing. I've always had cats, but now that I'm retired I'm thinking a dog would be a nice companion.

We adopted a greyhound (her name is Bee) almost 12 months ago. People are amazed that she has only been with us for a shortwhile. We have 'fitted in well and she has accepted us into her home with welcome paws!'. She welcomes all visitors with a smile, in return guests must give her ears or belly a scratch. She loves to pinch the soap out of the bathroom and hide it, unfortunately she won't pick up our son's dirty clothes. We received a lovely Christmas present from her previous owner, they sent us DVDs of her races, some photos of her when she races and pictures of her puppies. We are now proud foster parents who can show visitors pictures of our girl.

Just an idea to recruit extra carers-perhaps GSN could visit our market in Sale one day and have a display. Bee creates a lot of interest when we take her there. Thankyou Julie

Hi Christine, was just reading the comments in the guest book and have come across this site through the people who whelped our greyhound - Fabio - I adopted him through GAP but have been very disappointed with them. We fostered a dog named Kyle, who is just absolutely gorgeous and also kitty friendly as we have 3 cats and no problems at all. He oozes personality and if you are looking for a wonderful dog then I say maybe try him. I would love to see him go to a wonderful home. The hardest part for me with fostering was taking Kyle back and now I have found out that he is still there and they are too busy to find him a forever home at the moment as they are preparing the xmas party. I would have thought the dogs would come first. We had him for 3 weeks and took him back October 21st........ Christine you may be waiting a while as it is party time.
Just a thought for you
Di

I live in Queensland and put my adoption papers in to GAP at the end of March and I'm still waiting - my new kid needs to be cat friendly as well as happy to be by him/her self while I'm at work so I do need to be patient. I am so desperate to take delivery of our new family member, that I take every opportunity to scan the internet for more photos. Those gorgeous faces just tear at my heart and make me even more impatient. Oh well, at least I know it will be worth the wait.

What a wonderful job the foster families and adoption programs do - I take my hat off to all of you and thank you for the opportunity to allow people like me to adopt such a wonderful well deserving pet. Who wouldn't want a greyhound??????

Hi, fantastic job well done!! I have a greyhound that I rescued from the Vets I work at. We have a high volume of them through every week, coming in for muscle checks and consultations etc. They are certainly a wonderful breed of dog and highly recommend owning one ( or is it the other way around). I purchased your xmas cards this year and are very happy with them, cant wait to send them out.
Riley gets on very well with Rusty the Kelpie and has worn a track around our now non existant front garden chasing one another. Of course Riley is usually out front. anyway keep up the great work. kind regards from Janette C. Newcastle NSW
