Greyhound tails are wagging!
GSN are very excited – and extremely grateful – to share the news that the Victorian State Government, through the Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford and the Member for Pascoe Value and Animal Welfare Ambassador, Lizzie Blandthorn, announced GSN was a successful applicant for an Animal Welfare grant. This grant contributed 50% to the total cost of $28,000 to buy a replacement GSN car. The balance was raised through the fundraising efforts of our wonderful volunteers and donations from supporters.
The Minister said “We’re proud to support these volunteer organisations that play such an important role in improving and protecting our pet companions.”
The car has been purchased, so those greyhound tails are wagging as they are rescued and ride towards a beloved pet life. GSN are still designing the decals for the new car (advertising our greyhound rescue and rehoming service). We will post photos when the car is ready for the final “reveal”.
Pictured is GSN’s President, Sarah Lawson, announcing the grant at our Winter Warmer event held on 29 July at the Southern Obedience Dog Club. Sarah is also pictured with Julie, who is GSN's Adoption co-ordinator and uses the car to pick up and rescue greyhounds. Many of our adopters and supporters attended (and enjoyed!) the 2017 Winter Warmer, which is one of our twice-yearly get-togethers, where we raise funds so we can keep going with our mission of rescuing as many of these beautiful dogs as possible.
