Held at Southern Obedience Dog Club
56 Soden Road, Bangholme, Vic. 3175
Entrance is from Pillars Road, off Springvale Road, then turn right immediately onto Soden Road.
Greyhound Safety Net invites you to our Christmas Party, to share your love of our greyhounds, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones.
Payment is at the gate, but you must RSVP by 17th November.
(Click on the Email link at the bottom or copy the email address)
The event will commence at 12 noon, with food being served at approximately 1 pm.
There is a very large fenced, off-leash area for the dogs to have a run (see pic below from 2018 Winter Warmer). If you intend to let your dog off leash for a run, please bring a muzzle with you (GSN will also supply muzzles if you don't have one). The muzzle is for the safety of the greyhounds, as some can become a little over-excited when playing with their friends. You must remain in the off-leash area with your greyhound while it is running free.
ALL greyhounds welcome regardless of whether they were adopted from GSN.
Note: There is a large under-cover area if the weather is inclement.
$20 contribution per person (children $5) includes freshly baked ham, chicken, salads and dessert along with a glass of wine or soft drink, and tea/coffee.
There will also be a door prize, so make sure you pick up your ticket when you are paying at the entrance.
Make sure you check out our GSN stall, where you can buy lots of greyhound themed items, including a collars, leashes and even a new coat for your greyhound!
Bring-and-buy stall. We will once again have a bring-and-buy stall. Please bring along and donate any clean, in good condition, greyhound-suitable items that you no longer require. Remember, one dog's trash is another dog's treasure! But, please remember to collect any unsold items you bring, as we have nowhere to store them.
Raffle with great prizes and fun greyhound competitions including a best-Christmas-themed competition for owners and dogs, so start making your outfits!
Please RSVP with numbers attending by Saturday, 17th November at the latest, to assist us with catering. Click on the Email link below or copy the email address.
If you can help out by bringing a salad or dessert, that would be most appreciated (please let us know).
Also, please advise if vegetarian /vegan option is required.
Volunteers are needed to help out on the day – please let us know when you RSVP if you can help.
Greyhound tails are wagging!
GSN are very excited – and extremely grateful – to share the news that the Victorian State Government, through the Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford and the Member for Pascoe Value and Animal Welfare Ambassador, Lizzie Blandthorn, announced GSN was a successful applicant for an Animal Welfare grant. This grant contributed 50% to the total cost of $28,000 to buy a replacement GSN car. The balance was raised through the fundraising efforts of our wonderful volunteers and donations from supporters.
The Minister said “We’re proud to support these volunteer organisations that play such an important role in improving and protecting our pet companions.”
The car has been purchased, so those greyhound tails are wagging as they are rescued and ride towards a beloved pet life. GSN are still designing the decals for the new car (advertising our greyhound rescue and rehoming service). We will post photos when the car is ready for the final “reveal”.
Pictured is GSN’s President, Sarah Lawson, announcing the grant at our Winter Warmer event held on 29 July at the Southern Obedience Dog Club. Sarah is also pictured with Julie, who is GSN's Adoption co-ordinator and uses the car to pick up and rescue greyhounds. Many of our adopters and supporters attended (and enjoyed!) the 2017 Winter Warmer, which is one of our twice-yearly get-togethers, where we raise funds so we can keep going with our mission of rescuing as many of these beautiful dogs as possible.
