GSN has been established for over 18 years
and provides a safety net for greyhounds who might not otherwise get the chance of a forever home. GSN is a charity run by volunteers, so we appreciate your patience while we are working on the business of rescuing and rehoming greyhounds.
Please note do not promise we will be able to provide a greyhound to you as we allocate greyhounds based on the best match for them, and your home may not be the right match for the greyhounds we currently have in our care.

Cats and small animals
Unless noted as cat-friendly, most greyhounds will not be considered safe around cats.
We are unable to test greyhounds with chooks, guinea pigs, birds, or other small animals, so please consider this before applying for a greyhound if you have other small animals in the home.

We don't adopt greyhounds by colour
Most greyhounds bred are black, and therefore there are very few other colours available for adoption. We match our greyhounds to applicants based on the greyhound’s personality and needs, not their colour.

Females vs Males?
All greyhounds have individual personalities, but they are all lovely. However as a (grossly) generalized rule, boys tend to be a bit more affectionate and soppy than girls.

Do you live in an Apartment?
It needs more commitment to care for a greyhound in an Apartment. So please read our information on the Greyhounds and apartment living page before you apply to adopt or foster a GSN greyhound.

All GSN greyhounds are:
- Desexed, vaccinated, micro chipped, wormed, heartworm tested and health checked
- Shown how to be a pet by our trusted foster carers
At GSN we:
- Take the time to understand what our dogs need, so will only suggest dogs which are suitable for your circumstances - that also means we will discourage you if you want a dog that your circumstances are not a great match for
- Introduce you to the foster carer so you can understand more about the greyhound’s personality and needs
- Offer ongoing support from your greyhound's foster carer and our Adoption Co-ordinator
- Provide each greyhound with a collar, lead and warm coat

Special Thanks to Greyt Sponsors
🐾 Greyhound and Co Knoxfield is a friendly, inclusive walking group, who do a walk around Lakewood Nature Reserve each Sunday morning. With donated goods from RRRUFF! they fund-raised so much money, we didn’t have enough dogs to put their name on as sponsors.
🐾 Antoinette Ciconte has a deep love of animals and fell in love with greyhounds after meeting so many on a dog walk; she wants to see a home for every single greyhound bred and sponsors more dogs than can currently be rehomed by GSN. |
Campbell - aged 5 years
|
A Heart as Big as His SizeMeet this beautiful and gentle boy. He has a kind and loving nature. While he may lack a bit of confidence, he responds well to gentle handling and soft voices, helping him feel more at ease. He walks beautifully on a leash and shows no reactivity towards other dogs. He eagerly takes in all the sights and sounds, thoroughly enjoying his outings.
Adding to his sweet personality, he is toilet trained and sleeps quietly through the night. This boy would thrive in a home where someone is around often. He happily chooses to rest either in his foster carer's room or in the lounge room. Currently, he is thoroughly enjoying the company of another greyhound, so if you already have a dog, he will appreciate the companionship. He tends to lie down in the car during travel, occasionally getting up to have a look around, so car rides are not an issue. While he hasn't been tested with cats or small pets, due to his size (34kg), he might be better suited for singles, couples, or families with school-aged children. If you're looking for a sweet and affectionate companion, this gentle boy is ready to bring love and joy to your home. Campbell is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. Albi - aged 7 years
|
Ready to love you!Meet Albi, a mild-mannered greyhound who loves his favourite bed and spending time with his humans. Rescued in 2020, Albi has fully adapted to life as a pet. He has mastered many house training skills, such as walking on a lead, using stairs, toilet training, car rides, and even some tricks like 'lie down' and 'dance'. Albi adores cuddles and has not shown any common challenges like sleep startle or resource guarding. He would be best suited to companions who spend a lot of time at home or are looking for a buddy to run errands with. Albi has grown up around other dogs but can be a bit wary when first meeting them or on walks. Albi is experienced with children of all sizes and has lived with a smaller whippet, even as a puppy. If you’re looking for a gentle and loving companion, Albi is ready to bring joy and warmth into your home. Albi is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. D.O.B: 30/07/2017 M/C: 956000005428059 |
Tux- aged 2 years

Tux! Big Heart, Big Snugs🖤G’day, I’m Tux, a big boy who’s been discovering how wonderful life as a pet can be – and I’m loving every moment of it! – I’ve got a calm and friendly temperament, so I get along well with people and dogs of all sizes. I’d make a great companion for first-time dog owners, though because of my size, I might not the best fit for homes with young children.
At my foster home, I’m well behaved and haven’t caused any trouble. No toilet accidents, no chewing up furniture and I’m even mastering the stairs! – I promise I’m a tidy roommate. I enjoy spending time with my humans. I also chill out on my own in the backyard when you’re busy, although is not my favourite activity to be honest. I’m a good eater and enjoy my treats. Have you ever thought about going for walkies with a nice dog, who is good on the leash, no pulling and sticking close to your side? – Hey! that's me – A couple of 30-minute walks a day suits me just fine and I am also relaxed with other dogs. I’m still working on jumping into the back of big cars like SUVs, but once I'm in, I just relaxed and enjoy the trip. If you’re someone who’s home most of the time and looking for a loyal, easy-going companion, I’d love to meet you. Tux is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. DOB: 11/02/2023 M/C: 956000014500017 |
Kali - aged 3 years |
A Sweet and Playful CompanionKali is a sweet and cheeky girl who has settled into home life wonderfully. She has a loving personality and loves snuggling up for cuddles and pats. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or spending time outside, Kali will always be by your side, ready to share her love.
Inside the house, Kali is a well-behaved and easygoing companion. She eats well, sleeps through the night, and is toilet trained. She’s also happy to keep herself entertained with her toys, and her playful side will bring plenty of smiles to your day. When her foster mum is at work, Kali copes well being home alone and greets her foster family with happy tail wags when they return. Kali also enjoys car rides and travels like a pro. She gets in and out of the car all by herself, quickly settles down, and lays quietly for the trip. Whether you’re heading for an adventure or just a short drive, Kali will be happy to come along. On her walks, Kali shows her friendly nature. She walks nicely on the lead and is happy to meet other dogs and people along the way. Kali is currently living as an only dog, but she would do well in a home with another dog or even children. She has a calm and adaptable personality that would suit many households. Kali is looking for a loving forever home where she can share her warmth, playful energy, and cuddly nature. Trixie - aged 1 ½ years |
Love is Easy with TrixieTrixie is here to make you fall in love! At just 18 months old, she’s full of curiosity and eager to explore the joys of pet life. She thrives in busy family life, she especially loves playing with her human siblings. Tug of war and fetch are her favourite games, although she needs a bit of work on bringing the balls back. Once all that energy has been expended nothing can tempt her from her precious snoozing.
Trixie loves her people and can get anxious if she is left alone. A good walk or play to wear her out before any alone time helps her settle. She is good in the car although sometimes needs a bit of encouragement to jump in. She can be a little bit anxious in new environments, but the reassurance of a calm adult helps her tackle even the scariest situations. She enjoys her food, but watch out, if she’s still hungry she will carry her bowl around looking for more. Trixie is currently living with cats, she is curious about them and has shown great manners staying on her bed when they are in the room. Her curiosity and playfulness means she tends to follow if the cats run. A confident cat household would be ideal, but with a little more time Trixie may settle more and learn that her cat friends don’t generally want to play with her. Trixie would be an excellent addition to a household with kids, she can get quite playful at times so primary school or older kids who enjoy the fun of a dog would be best. Could Trixie be the playful pal you are looking for? 🐾 DOB: 12/10/2023 M/C: 956000014869674 |
