GSN has been established for over 19 years

and provides a safety net for greyhounds who might not otherwise get the chance of a forever home. GSN is a charity run by volunteers, so we appreciate your patience while we are working on the business of rescuing and rehoming greyhounds.
Please note do not promise we will be able to provide a greyhound to you as we allocate greyhounds based on the best match for them, and your home may not be the right match for the greyhounds we currently have in our care.
More information about the adoption process can be found here
Cats and small animals

Unless noted as cat-friendly, most greyhounds will not be considered safe around cats.
We are unable to test greyhounds with chooks, guinea pigs, birds, or other small animals, so please consider this before applying for a greyhound if you have other small animals in the home.
We don't adopt greyhounds by colour
Most greyhounds bred are black, and therefore there are very few other colours available for adoption. We match our greyhounds to applicants based on the greyhound’s personality and needs, not their colour.
Females vs Males?
All greyhounds have individual personalities, but they are all lovely. However as a (grossly) generalized rule, boys tend to be a bit more affectionate and soppy than girls.
Do you live in an Apartment?
It needs more commitment to care for a greyhound in an Apartment. So please read our information on  the Greyhounds and apartment living page before you apply to adopt or foster a GSN greyhound.
All GSN greyhounds are:
  •   Desexed, vaccinated, micro chipped, wormed, heartworm tested and health checked
  •   Shown how to be a pet by our trusted foster carers
At GSN we:
  • Take the time to understand what our dogs need, so will only suggest dogs which are suitable for your circumstances - that also means we will discourage you if you want a dog that your circumstances are not a great match for
  • Introduce you to the foster carer so you can understand more about the greyhound’s personality and needs
  • Offer ongoing support from your greyhound's foster carer and our Adoption Co-ordinator
  • Provide each greyhound with a collar, lead and warm coat

A Gentle Soul Learning to Love Again 💖

Addy’s description may seem more detailed than the others, but we want to provide as much information as possible to ensure we find the perfect match for her. So, here it is!

Addy’s world turned upside down when her previous family welcomed a new little one—a big life change that left this sweet 7 year old greyhound confused and overwhelmed. Surrendered through no fault of her own, she arrived in our care unsure of what came next.
In her foster home, Addy is slowly rebuilding trust and confidence. She’s well-versed in home life and is enjoying the calm predictability of a quiet routine. Although she is in foster care with two other greyhounds, she much prefers her own space and would love to be your hearts sole focus.

Once hand-shy, she now nudges for affection on her own terms, at the most unexpected moments (yes, even mid-bathroom break!). Addy takes a little time to warm up to new people, but with gentleness, patience and respect she will begin to unfurl and unpack, showing glimpses of her  sweet, quirky self. She might not be a cuddlebug, but she does have her own unique way of showing love when you least expect it.

One of her favourite moves is to back up into your legs until her entire undercarriage is perched over your knee like it’s her personal lounge chair. She’ll also visit you in the bathroom (because doors mean nothing when you love someone), and sometimes does the cutest little hops when she knows walk time is coming.

Addy delights in soft, squeaky toys, gets the zoomies when the mood strikes, and has perfected the full upside down roach.

She also plays fetch and yes, she brings the ball back. Addy is silly, gentle, and independent, but bonds deeply when given the space to feel safe. She’s otherwise thriving in a calm environment where her needs are met and understood.

But what Addy craves most is simple: a quiet, kid-free home where she can be your heart’s sole focus. She’ll repay you with quiet companionship, goofy antics, and the kind of loyalty that comes when a dog learns love is safe again.

Could you be Addy’s fresh start? Her perfect home is out there—one where she can thrive as the cherished “only child” she was always meant to be.

A Gentle Boy Joining to Foster Care

We’re excited to welcome Quinnie to our foster care program! While his foster family is still assessing and introducing him to pet life, the updates so far are very promising.

Quinnie is blossoming into a gentle-natured and warm-hearted boy. He’s been fantastic in the car, walking calmly on a lead, and settling beautifully inside the house.

Ideally, Quinnie would love to share your couch in the living room or even snuggle up on the bed with you—he’s all about being close to his people.
Stay tuned for more updates on this lovely boy soon!

Charlie's Bright Future Starts With You

Charlie is a big, fluffy goofball with a heart full of love. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves to be around his humans. Charlie is currently learning to walk nicely on a lead and is working hard to manage his excitement when he sees other dogs during his walks.

He’s friendly with his three greyhound foster siblings and is coping well in a home with full-time workers. Whether he’s left alone or with his foster siblings, Charlie remains calm and settled. He sleeps soundly through the night, has had no toileting accidents, and absolutely adores his food and snacks!

Charlie is searching for his best friend(s)—someone who will shower him with affection and enjoy relaxing at home with him. He loves to lay at your feet, often using them as a headrest for extra cuddles.

If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion, Charlie might just be the right match for you!

Quiet Moments, Endless Love

Caitlyn is a sweet, middle-aged greyhound with lots of love to give. After a few races and raising a couple of litters, she’s now learning the ropes of pet life in foster care. Caitlyn is a quiet and gentle soul who prefers to observe her surroundings before jumping in. Once she’s comfortable, she’ll happily follow you around the house, keeping you company and asking for pats and ear scratches—she loves being close to her humans.

Caitlyn enjoys her daily walks, always eager to sniff and explore. She’s great on a loose lead but may need a shorter lead around other dogs as she’s still unsure how to interact with them. After her walks, she’s content to spend the rest of the day napping.

She gets along well with her greyhound foster friend but can get protective of her bed, so having her own space is essential. Caitlyn settles quietly at night, sleeping in the living room until morning.

While she’s spent time with children, Caitlyn prefers older, calm kids who respect her space, especially when she’s on her bed. She needs a patient home that understands she can feel a little anxious and needs time to adjust.

Caitlyn is a sweet, quiet girl looking for a loving home where she can thrive. Could she be the one for you?

Caitlyn is not cat or pocket pet tolerant.
