GSN has been established for over 19 years
and provides a safety net for greyhounds who might not otherwise get the chance of a forever home. GSN is a charity run by volunteers, so we appreciate your patience while we are working on the business of rescuing and rehoming greyhounds.
Please note do not promise we will be able to provide a greyhound to you as we allocate greyhounds based on the best match for them, and your home may not be the right match for the greyhounds we currently have in our care.

Cats and small animals
Unless noted as cat-friendly, most greyhounds will not be considered safe around cats.
We are unable to test greyhounds with chooks, guinea pigs, birds, or other small animals, so please consider this before applying for a greyhound if you have other small animals in the home.

We don't adopt greyhounds by colour
Most greyhounds bred are black, and therefore there are very few other colours available for adoption. We match our greyhounds to applicants based on the greyhound’s personality and needs, not their colour.

Females vs Males?
All greyhounds have individual personalities, but they are all lovely. However as a (grossly) generalized rule, boys tend to be a bit more affectionate and soppy than girls.

Do you live in an Apartment?
It needs more commitment to care for a greyhound in an Apartment. So please read our information on the Greyhounds and apartment living page before you apply to adopt or foster a GSN greyhound.

At GSN we:
- Take the time to understand what our dogs need, so will only suggest dogs which are suitable for your circumstances - that also means we will discourage you if you want a dog that your circumstances are not a great match for
- Introduce you to the foster carer so you can understand more about the greyhound’s personality and needs
- Offer ongoing support from your greyhound's foster carer and our Adoption Co-ordinator
- Provide each greyhound with a collar, lead and warm coat

Special Thanks to Greyt Sponsors
🐾 Greyhound and Co Knoxfield is a friendly, inclusive walking group, who do a walk around Lakewood Nature Reserve each Sunday morning. With donated goods from RRRUFF! they fund-raised so much money, we didn’t have enough dogs to put their name on as sponsors.
🐾 Antoinette Ciconte has a deep love of animals and fell in love with greyhounds after meeting so many on a dog walk; she wants to see a home for every single greyhound bred and sponsors more dogs than can currently be rehomed by GSN. |

Campbell - aged 5 years
|
A Heart as Big as His SizeMeet this beautiful and gentle boy. He has a kind and loving nature. While he may lack a bit of confidence, he responds well to gentle handling and soft voices, helping him feel more at ease. He walks beautifully on a leash and shows no reactivity towards other dogs. He eagerly takes in all the sights and sounds, thoroughly enjoying his outings.
Adding to his sweet personality, he is toilet trained and sleeps quietly through the night. This boy would thrive in a home where someone is around often. He happily chooses to rest either in his foster carer's room or in the lounge room. Currently, he is thoroughly enjoying the company of another greyhound, so if you already have a dog, he will appreciate the companionship. He tends to lie down in the car during travel, occasionally getting up to have a look around, so car rides are not an issue. While he hasn't been tested with cats or small pets, due to his size (34kg), he might be better suited for singles, couples, or families with school-aged children. If you're looking for a sweet and affectionate companion, this gentle boy is ready to bring love and joy to your home. Campbell is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. Sheila - aged almost 2 years |
Meet Sheila! Sweet, happy, playful and cat friendly 😻Sheila is a sweet girl who wants nothing more than to love and be loved by her humans. When she first arrived in foster care, she was very unsure of the world. Walks were scary, and even the backyard felt overwhelming. But with the help of two devoted kids showering her with pats and cuddles, Sheila has blossomed into a happy, playful girl who adores her people. Walks have gone from being scary to becoming a daily highlight! She even happily curls up on the ground at cafes and restaurants, feeling confident as long as she’s by her humans’ side.
Sheila is currently living with two cats and has shown no negative behaviors toward them. She’s eager to befriend her furry housemates, which can make her a bit forward as she tries to play. Sheila likes to follow them around and attempts to instigate playtime. Because of this, she would do best in a home with confident cats who are comfortable with her enthusiasm. Sheila currently lives as an only dog but has shown very friendly behavior toward all the dogs she meets on walks. She also travels happily in the back of the car with another greyhound and loves having dog friends over for visits. Based on her interactions, we believe Sheila would enjoy living with another dog. Sheila is an active, playful, and loving girl who would thrive in a family setting. She’s waiting for you with big, happy tail wags and can’t wait to join your home! 🐾💕 DOB: 08/07/2023 M/C: 956000014689270 |
Tommy - aged 3 years |
A Playful PalTommy is a fun-loving young boy who will bring plenty of playfulness and joy into any loving home. Inside the house, he’s still learning the ropes and has a puppy-like curiosity. He loves to collect things – from toys to household items – and sometimes even cutlery, so sharp objects need to be kept out of his reach. His foster family is working on redirecting this habit towards more appropriate toys, and he’s making great progress. Tommy also enjoys spending time with people and would be a great match for a family with school-aged children who can join in the fun.
On walks, Tommy’s curiosity about life shines through. While he’s still learning to walk calmly on the lead, he’s eager and fascinated by the world around him. When he spots another dog, all he wants is to go and play, so he’ll need some further training to understand that not all dogs are ready for playtime. Tommy would thrive in a home where his playful nature is embraced and he has plenty of opportunities to learn and explore. He’d do well in a home with a canine companion who matches his energy and enthusiasm, but he’s also happy as a solo boy. If you’re looking for a playful and loyal companion, Tommy could be the perfect fit. He’s ready to find a loving home where he can continue his journey from kennel to couch! Tommy is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. DOB: 07/04/2022 M/C: 956000014569938 |
Tux - aged 2 years |
Tux! Big Heart, Big Snugs🖤
G’day! I’m Tux, a big-hearted boy who’s discovering how good life can be in a loving home. My calm and friendly nature means I get along beautifully with people and dogs of all sizes. While I’d make a wonderful first dog for someone, my solid 36kg frame means I’d do best in a home with older children who can handle my size with confidence.
You might notice I’m missing a toe, but don’t let that worry you – I’ve recovered completely. I’m what you might call a low-energy kind of guy, perfectly content with just a couple of short walks each day. I’d especially love a home with another easygoing dog to keep me company when you’re busy. Around the house, I’m wonderfully well-behaved. No accidents, no chewing, and I’m getting better at stairs every day. Mealtimes are my favorite – I’m a good eater who’s always up for a tasty treat. I love spending time with my humans, so I fit well in a family where someone is at home most of the time. When it’s time for our walks, you’ll find me polite on the leash – no pulling, just happy to amble along beside you. I’m still building my confidence with jumping into big cars, but once I’m settled, I’m an excellent traveler who enjoys the ride. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance friend who’s ready to fill your days with quiet companionship and plenty of love, I’d be absolutely delighted to meet you. 🐾 Tux is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. Star - aged 2 years |
Loyal Leaner, Loving FriendStar is discovering just how wonderful home life can be. This sweet boy keeps things calm and tidy indoors—fully toilet-trained and respectful of house rules (though he'll occasionally sneak onto the couch when he thinks nobody's watching).
In his foster home, Star fits right in with his German Shepherd sibling and two teen girls. You'll often find him lounging nearby while they do homework or shadowing them around the house for affection. Mealtimes are stress-free—he enjoys his food and is always ready for a treat. Out on walks, Star behaves beautifully on lead. After an initial moment of excitement, he settles into a comfortable pace without pulling. He greets other medium-to-large dogs politely and travels like a pro, hopping effortlessly into SUVs for adventures. Playful but not hyperactive, Star enjoys energetic zoomies in the yard followed by long, lazy naps. He thrives with human company and would suit a home where someone is usually around. A family with school-aged children and another easygoing dog would be ideal. What makes Star special isn't perfection—it's his kind, adaptable nature. He's not demanding, just a faithful friend waiting for his forever home. Could that be with you? Star is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. DOB: 28/11/2022 M/C: 956000014811961 |
