GSN has been established for over 19 years

and provides a safety net for greyhounds who might not otherwise get the chance of a forever home. GSN is a charity run by volunteers, so we appreciate your patience while we are working on the business of rescuing and rehoming greyhounds.
Please note do not promise we will be able to provide a greyhound to you as we allocate greyhounds based on the best match for them, and your home may not be the right match for the greyhounds we currently have in our care.
More information about the adoption process can be found here
Cats and small animals

Unless noted as cat-friendly, most greyhounds will not be considered safe around cats.
We are unable to test greyhounds with chooks, guinea pigs, birds, or other small animals, so please consider this before applying for a greyhound if you have other small animals in the home.
We don't adopt greyhounds by colour
Most greyhounds bred are black, and therefore there are very few other colours available for adoption. We match our greyhounds to applicants based on the greyhound’s personality and needs, not their colour.
Females vs Males?
All greyhounds have individual personalities, but they are all lovely. However as a (grossly) generalized rule, boys tend to be a bit more affectionate and soppy than girls.
Do you live in an Apartment?
It needs more commitment to care for a greyhound in an Apartment. So please read our information on  the Greyhounds and apartment living page before you apply to adopt or foster a GSN greyhound.
All GSN greyhounds are:
  •   Desexed, vaccinated, micro chipped, wormed, heartworm tested and health checked
  •   Shown how to be a pet by our trusted foster carers
At GSN we:
  • Take the time to understand what our dogs need, so will only suggest dogs which are suitable for your circumstances - that also means we will discourage you if you want a dog that your circumstances are not a great match for
  • Introduce you to the foster carer so you can understand more about the greyhound’s personality and needs
  • Offer ongoing support from your greyhound's foster carer and our Adoption Co-ordinator
  • Provide each greyhound with a collar, lead and warm coat

A Gentle Soul Learning to Love Again 💖

Addy is a quiet and independent soul, often described as a cat in a greyhound’s body. She has her own sweet ways of showing affection since she is not overly clingy. One of her favourite moves is pressing her long, elegant legs against you for pats, or backing herself into your legs as if they’re her personal chair. She’ll even nudge you for a little love during the most unexpected moments, like bathroom breaks because doors mean nothing when you love someone.

This classic couch potato loves nothing more than snoozing on soft surfaces, whether it’s the couch, her bed, or yours. She’s equally fond of basking in the sun and relishes a calm, predictable routine. Addy also has bursts of playful energy; she adores squeaky toys, gets the occasional zoomies, and even plays fetch, and yes, she’ll bring the ball back! Walks are her favourite part of the day, and she does an adorable little hop when she knows it’s time to head out.

Addy thrives in calm, predictable environments. Her ideal home would be quiet, kid-free, and without other pets, where she can be the center of attention. She’s fully toilet-trained, sleeps peacefully through the night, and travels well in the car.

With patience, kindness, and the occasional treat like peanut butter toast or roast chicken, Addy will show you just how much love she has to give. She’s ready for a peaceful forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and cherished. Could you be her fresh start?

Reba - aged 5 years

Picture

A Sweet and Gentle Girl

Reba is a lovely black greyhound with a gentle and sweet nature. She’s currently living happily in foster care with an elderly greyhound companion and is adjusting well to her new life. While she initially found the outside world a little overwhelming, regular walks around quiet streets are helping her relax and grow in confidence.

Reba is gentle on the lead and doesn’t pull, making her a pleasure to walk. She’s also non-reactive to other dogs she meets on her time exploring outside. At home, Reba’s playful side shines as she adores toys and loves tossing them in the air and chasing after them. She’s fully toilet trained and sleeps peacefully through the night on her bed in the lounge, often near her canine friend.

This sweet girl travels quietly in the car, lying down calmly throughout the trip. While she still needs a little help getting in and out of the car, with time and patience, she’s likely to get the hang of it.
Reba enjoys being around people and is happy to relax on her bed in the same room as you. If you work full-time, she’d love another dog to keep her company, but if you’re home often, she’ll happily soak up your presence.

Reba is a loving companion who’s ready to bring joy and warmth into her forever home. Could she be the perfect match for you?

Jewel - aged almost 6 years

A Toy-Loving Gem

Jewel is a gentle girl who has quickly made herself at home in her foster family. From the first day she walked through the door, she seemed to understand that soft beds, quiet evenings, and kind hands were now part of her life. Her foster mum works during the day, and Jewel has shown she can be trusted both on her own or in the company of another greyhound. She is toilet trained, and with a clear signal will let you know when it’s time to go outside. Nights are peaceful with Jewel; she settles in quietly and sleeps right through until morning.

One of Jewel’s simple joys is hopping into the car for a ride. With bright eyes and ears up, she takes it all in, happy just to be along for the journey. Indoors, she loves her toys, carting her treasures through the house and creating little nests of squeaky toys.

Walks with Jewel are calm and straightforward. She has a steady pace on the lead and, when she crosses paths with other dogs, she might give a cheerful bark to say hello. At home, though, she saves her biggest welcome for her people. A wagging tail and eager cuddle are her way of saying, “I’m glad you’re back”.

Jewel is well suited to many types of families. She could happily live with another dog, join a home with children, or enjoy being the much‑loved center of attention. She’s ready to share her easygoing nature and gentle sparkle with a family who is excited to welcome her in.

Jewel is not cat or pocket pet tolerant.

Fox - a lover of all

🎶 Dog goes woof, cat goes meow, cow goes moo… but what does the Fox say? 🎶

Well, this Fox is very vocal about saying he loves you! Fox is a cheeky character who loves everyone he meets. Everyone is Fox’s best friend — he greets dogs and humans alike with pure joy, often sneaking in a quick lick if he can manage it.

Fox is not your typical sleepy greyhound — he’s a young lad with energy to burn. Toys get energetically thrown around, and zoomies will happen in circles on the spot if there’s no room to stretch out. A decent amount of space to run will be well utilised by Fox, and even after a session of zoomies, a walk is always a happy event for him.

🎶 Your fur is fawn, so beautiful — like an angel in disguise. 🎶

Fox really is an angel, as he’s very happy to live with cats, provided they let him know when they don’t want to play. A busy household to help him expend his energy would suit him perfectly. Fox lives with primary school–aged kids but would not be suitable for younger children due to his boisterous play style.

Fox is currently living as an only dog but we think he would be best suited to a home with fellow furry family members. Having a doggy friend who’s up for some lively playtimes would be an extra bonus for Fox. Wherever Fox finds himself, he’ll love his people with all his heart — and it will be impossible not to love him back.

Kind and Ready to Belong

Nikki is a lovely lady with a gentle heart and a calm soul. She’s friendly and affectionate with everyone she meets, from people to dogs of all shapes and sizes. In her foster home, she shares life peacefully with two teenagers and a German Shepherd, showing just how adaptable she is.

Nikki has settled beautifully into home life. She’s toilet and house trained, confident on stairs, and loves her meals. She can stay home alone for up to four hours, though she prefers having company. She rides well in the car, enjoying the view once she’s settled, and is happy with a couple of 30-minute walks each day.

Her calm and kind temperament make her a wonderful companion for a relaxed household. Nikki doesn’t ask for much — just some love, a comfy spot to rest, and gentle daily walks.

Luna - Small but Mighty!

Luna may be petite, but she’s bursting with confidence and charm! This happy, cheeky girl is full of energy and loves joining in on every bit of fun. She adores her humans and foster buddies and is always thrilled to meet new people and dogs.

Luna walks beautifully on the lead, though she can set off with a little too much enthusiasm at first – a head harness helps her quickly settle into a relaxed stroll. She’s toilet trained, travels well in the car, and loves snuggling into her bed after a good walk.

A true foodie, Luna never says no to a treat and will happily “assist” with the washing up. She’s polite with dogs of all sizes once properly introduced and gets along nicely with children.

Luna is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy plenty of walks, cuddles, and companionship – and in return, she’ll bring joy, loyalty, and endless affection every day.

Luna is not cat or pocket pet tolerant.

Felix - aged almost 2 years

A Playful Boy Finding His Confidence

Felix has been living peacefully with two female dogs in his foster home and fits in nicely with them. He enjoys their company and plays gently and respectfully. He has also shown positive interactions with dogs of all breeds and sizes. Outside the home, he prefers to observe rather than rush into new situations, especially when meeting unfamiliar people. He may take a few days to feel comfortable with new faces, but once trust is built, he becomes a loyal and loving companion who enjoys being close to his people.

He’s excited to go on walks and explore, though he’s still learning to walk nicely on the lead. With time and consistency, he’ll continue to improve. His toilet training has made great progress, and he’s keeping his foster home clean. When it’s time to eat, Felix happily finishes every meal. Since he shows some curiosity about other dogs’ food bowls, it’s best to feed him separately to help maintain good manners.

Felix would thrive in a calm and patient home that can offer gentle guidance, regular walks, and space to play. In return, he’ll bring joy, friendship, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from watching a young dog grow into a steady, loyal companion.

Daisy - aged 5 years

Finding Comfort One Day at Time

When Daisy first arrived in foster care, she was a little unsure of what life might bring. With time and patience, she’s slowly blossomed into a sweet, loyal girl who loves the simple things — a quiet home, good food, and the company of a few trusted friends.

Daisy currently lives with a German Shepherd in her foster home and gets along with dogs of similar size. She’s fine around medium to large dogs who speak her language of companionship and play. People are nice too — especially if there are treats involved. Food is Daisy’s love language, and she’s easily persuaded by a tasty snack or two.

This gentle girl is looking for a peaceful, adult‑only home where the days move at an easy pace. She would suit a family with another steady dog to keep her company or someone who enjoys quiet walks and quiet evenings at home. With a bit of routine, patience, and plenty of love (and treats!), Daisy will continue to grow in confidence. In return, she’ll bring warmth, loyalty, and the tender joy of watching a shy blossom open into a loving companion ready to bloom in her forever home.

Daisy is not cat or pocket pet tolerant.

Mary - aged 6 years

Picture
Picture

A Girl Who Finds Joy in Every Day

Mary is thriving in foster care, blossoming into a very sweet and affectionate grey with a huge heart. Her foster-family have never had a grey happier to be alive!  Although Mary is six, we believe she will always be young at heart.

Her first love will be her family. She is a very devoted gal, loving affection and cuddles, and will always be up for any activity or adventure you’re going on. She walks well on her morning and evening walks of fifteen to thirty minutes, stopping to sniff all the curiosities along the way. After her morning walk, Mary is happy napping the rest of the day away, waking only for an afternoon sunbath, zoom or toy-toss.  Her goofy streak will always have you laughing.

Though she hasn’t met young children yet, her bursts of playful energy and her exuberance for sometimes giddy-zoomies mean she’d do best in an adult home or one with older kids who understand her silly, enthusiastic style. Mary is fully toilet‑trained, uses the doggy‑door with ease, and travels calmly in the car. She sleeps soundly through the night on her bed and sometimes shares it with her staffy foster sister, proving just how sweet‑natured she is.

Mary is looking for a home that shares her pure love for life and will include her in their activities and adventures.

Mary is not cat or pocket pet tolerant.

Bolt - aged almost 2 years

Picture
Picture

A Sweet Nature Wrapped as a Giant Gem

This big black and white boy has all the energy and curiosity of a youngster, wrapped up in a gentle and affectionate nature. His size might be impressive at 36 kilograms, but his manners and sweetness make him an easy to love.

Bolt has turned out to be a real gem. He’s kind with children, happily soaking up pats and giggles, and he shows a surprising calm around cats. He adores company, often leaning in for cuddles or following his people from room to room just to be part of things. Whether it’s an afternoon walk, a quiet evening at home, or a weekend outing, Bolt is simply happy to be included.

Like many food enthusiasts, he prefers to enjoy his meals without sharing. He’s fine with other dogs, but he’d rather keep his dinner to himself, and a bit of space at mealtime suits him best. Outside of that, he’s easygoing and good nature, always ready for a walk or a play session in the yard before stretching out for a nap.

Bolt’s sleek coat, bright eyes and joyful personality make him stand out without trying. He has the spirit of a young dog eager to learn and the heart of one who’s ready to settle into a family of his own. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with plenty of love, laughter and tail wags to give, Bolt is waiting to meet you.
