GSN has been established for over 20 years

and provides a safety net for greyhounds who might not otherwise get the chance of a forever home. GSN is a charity run by volunteers, so we appreciate your patience while we are working on the business of rescuing and rehoming greyhounds.
Please note do not promise we will be able to provide a greyhound to you as we allocate greyhounds based on the best match for them, and your home may not be the right match for the greyhounds we currently have in our care.

Cats and small animals
​Unless noted as cat-friendly, most greyhounds will not be considered safe around cats.
We are unable to test greyhounds with chooks, guinea pigs, birds, or other small animals, so please consider this before applying for a greyhound if you have other small animals in the home.
We don't adopt greyhounds by colour
Most greyhounds bred are black, and therefore there are very few other colours available for adoption. We match our greyhounds to applicants based on the greyhound’s personality and needs, not their colour.
Females vs Males?
All greyhounds have individual personalities, but they are all lovely. However as a (grossly) generalized rule, boys tend to be a bit more affectionate and soppy than girls.
Do you live in an Apartment?
It needs more commitment to care for a greyhound in an Apartment. So please read our information on  the Greyhounds and apartment living page before you apply to adopt or foster a GSN greyhound.
All GSN greyhounds are:
  •   Desexed, vaccinated, micro chipped, wormed, heartworm tested and health checked
  •   Shown how to be a pet by our trusted foster carers
At GSN we:
  • Take the time to understand what our dogs need, so will only suggest dogs which are suitable for your circumstances - that also means we will discourage you if you want a dog that your circumstances are not a great match for
  • Introduce you to the foster carer so you can understand more about the greyhound’s personality and needs
  • Offer ongoing support from your greyhound's foster carer and our Adoption Co-ordinator
  • Provide each greyhound with a collar, lead and warm coat

A Sweet and Gentle Girl

Reba is a lovely black greyhound with a gentle and sweet nature. She’s currently living happily in foster care with an elderly greyhound companion and is adjusting well to her new life. While she initially found the outside world a little overwhelming, regular walks around quiet streets are helping her relax and grow in confidence.

Reba is gentle on the lead and doesn’t pull, making her a pleasure to walk. She’s also non-reactive to other dogs she meets on her time exploring outside. At home, Reba’s playful side shines as she adores toys and loves tossing them in the air and chasing after them. She’s fully toilet trained and sleeps peacefully through the night on her bed in the lounge, often near her canine friend.

This sweet girl travels quietly in the car, lying down calmly throughout the trip. While she still needs a little help getting in and out of the car, with time and patience, she’s likely to get the hang of it.
Reba enjoys being around people and is happy to relax on her bed in the same room as you. If you work full-time, she’d love another dog to keep her company, but if you’re home often, she’ll happily soak up your presence.

Kind and Ready to Belong

Nikki is a lovely lady with a gentle heart and a calm soul. She’s friendly and affectionate with everyone she meets, from people to dogs of all shapes and sizes. In her foster home, she shares life peacefully with two teenagers and a German Shepherd, showing just how adaptable she is.

Nikki has settled beautifully into home life. She’s toilet and house trained, confident on stairs, and loves her meals. She can stay home alone for up to four hours, though she prefers having company. She rides well in the car, enjoying the view once she’s settled, and is happy with a couple of 30-minute walks each day.

Her calm and kind temperament make her a wonderful companion for a relaxed household. Nikki doesn’t ask for much — just some love, a comfy spot to rest, and gentle daily walks.

Luna - Small but Mighty!

Luna may be petite, but she’s bursting with confidence and charm! This happy, cheeky girl is full of energy and loves joining in on every bit of fun. She adores her humans and foster buddies and is always thrilled to meet new people and dogs.

Luna walks beautifully on the lead, though she can set off with a little too much enthusiasm at first – a head harness helps her quickly settle into a relaxed stroll. She’s toilet trained, travels well in the car, and loves snuggling into her bed after a good walk.

A true foodie, Luna never says no to a treat and will happily “assist” with the washing up. She’s polite with dogs of all sizes once properly introduced and gets along nicely with children.

Luna is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy plenty of walks, cuddles, and companionship – and in return, she’ll bring joy, loyalty, and endless affection every day.

Well, who do we have here? Introducing... Sparkles!

Fulfil the desires of this queen of ear scratches and neck rubs, and she’ll melt into a pile of blue glitter, gazing lovingly into your eyes.

She loves to play and zoomie with her canine friends and has a curious mind, frequently performing “bag inspections” when you come home. (“Whatcha bring me?”)

She’s initially a little shy around children and would probably be better suited to a home with kids over ten years old. She also needs a bit of help getting into cars. (“Uppies please, human.”)

When she feels overwhelmed by life, she can be vocal. Her previous owner was a dog minder, and poor Sparkles found it hard to cope with all the canine visitors in her home, so it was decided to rehome her. She would benefit from some training to build her confidence around unfamiliar dogs.

This petite blue girl has already lived in a home and is being rehomed through no fault of her own. So... who’s ready to add a little Sparkle to their life?

Life is Bright with Sophie 🌼

Sophie is a delightful girl with a calm and friendly personality, always ready to share her quiet company and a happy wag of the tail. Life with Sophie feels easy, she enjoys going for walks and exploring the world at her own pace. She walks nicely on the lead and loves to stop and sniff along the way. When it’s time for a car ride, she still needs a little help getting in, but once she’s settled, she travels calmly and seems to enjoy the journey.

This sweet girl loves her food and happily looks forward to mealtimes. She has shown no signs of food guarding or aggression, making mealtimes relaxed and pleasant. Like many greyhounds, she has recently started collecting a few favourite things around the house, not in a destructive way, but as if she’s curating her own little treasure pile as part of her charm.

Sophie enjoys the company of other dogs and would be happy living with another gentle companion, even a smaller dog. She’s looking for a loving home where she can be included in daily life, enjoy a comfy bed, tasty meals, and all the affection she gives so freely in return.

Betty - aged almost 7 years

A Valentine Girl 💕

When it comes to spreading love, Betty is a natural. This affectionate girl's birthday falls on Valentine’s Day, and she’s hoping to find her forever home. Betty has a big heart and loves being close to her people. Whether it’s leaning in for pats or following you around the house, she makes every day feel a little warmer.

In her foster home, Betty waits patiently for her humans to return when left alone for a few hours. When they come home, she gets so excited that she can be a little jumpy but is learning to curb this behaviour.

Betty has mastered her toilet training and walks beautifully with a harness. She’s also discovered the joy of toys, proudly gathering her treasures and tucking them into her bed as if building her own little collection. Her favourite things include affectionate cuddles, gentle walks, and being part of whatever her family is doing.

She would love a home where she can be involved inf daily life and stay be close to her humans, sharing affection and companionship. With her friendly personality, lovely manners, and faithful heart, Betty will make a wonderful addition to any household.

A Playful pal

Zorro is a fun-loving boy who will bring plenty of playfulness and joy into any loving home. Inside the house, he’s still learning the ropes and has a puppy-like curiosity. He enjoys spending time with people and would be a great match for a family with school-aged children who can join in the fun.

On walks, Zorro’s curiosity about life shines through. While he’s still learning to walk calmly on the lead, he’s eager and fascinated by the world around him. When he spots another dog, all he wants is to go and play, so he’ll need some further training to understand that not all dogs are ready for playtime.

Zorro would thrive in a home where his playful nature is embraced and he has plenty of opportunities to learn and explore. He’d do well in a home with a canine companion who matches his energy and enthusiasm, but he’s also happy as a solo boy.

Connie - aged almost 5 years

Ready to Run Into Your Heart 

Connie is actually short for con-artist, because she’ll charm you with her good looks and sweet sugary face, and then reveal she is very much not a couch potato. Instead, this four and a half year old is a magical mix of rocket-powered chopsticks with a super brain. One thing to know about Connie is that whilst she has The Biggest and Cutest Personality, she is small in stature, making her the ultimate 25kg pocket rocket.

Always ready for life’s greatest joys: zooming around, playing fetch (and yes, she’ll bring it back too), rolling in things that smell amazing, solving puzzles and finding new things to be curious about. Connie will also fit a little snooze in to recharge her speed sticks.

One of Connie’s favourite hobbies is leaving a trail of toys from her basket into the yard. You’ll usually find her at the end, sprawled in the grass with her tongue lolling in pure joy. Connie is living solo in her foster home but has met and socialised well with other greyhounds. She lives by the motto that a friend is just someone you haven’t met (and leaned on) yet. In Connie’s world, that applies just as much to fellow greyhounds as it does to people.

Though Connie has shown she can spend time on her own, she would absolutely adore having a houndie friend and a human who enjoys greyhound gatherings and walks, so she can continue living her best life as the social butterfly she is. With her bright, curious mind, Connie is the kind of dog who picks up new things in a flash. She loves using that clever noggin, so activities like trick training, agility, or even nose-work could be wonderfully enriching, and a lovely way to build a strong bond together.

A home with a yard for her daily zoomies would suit her beautifully, and because of her enthusiastic approach to life, a family with older children would be best.

Connie isn’t suited to homes with small dogs, pocket pets, or cats.
