GSN has been established for over 15 years
and provides a safety net for greyhounds who might not otherwise get the chance of a forever home. GSN is a charity run by volunteers, so we appreciate your patience while we are working on the business of rescuing and rehoming greyhounds.
Please note do not promise we will be able to provide a greyhound to you as we allocate greyhounds based on the best match for them, and your home may not be the right match for the greyhounds we currently have in our care.

Cats and small animals
Unless noted as cat-friendly, most greyhounds will not be considered safe around cats.
We are unable to test greyhounds with chooks, guinea pigs, birds, or other small animals, so please consider this before applying for a greyhound if you have other small animals in the home.

We don't adopt greyhounds by colour
Most greyhounds bred are black, and therefore there are very few other colours available for adoption. We match our greyhounds to applicants based on the greyhound’s personality and needs, not their colour.

Females vs Males?
All greyhounds have individual personalities, but they are all lovely. However as a (grossly) generalized rule, boys tend to be a bit more affectionate and soppy than girls.

Clover - aged 8 years
|
Sweet CloverClover has happy dreams in in many positions. She loves to sleep next to a favourite person on the couch and is just as happy to quietly sleep all day alone or with human company.
Clover loves her all-weather walks and she walks well on the lead. An invitation to walk invokes great joy, however Clover is fearful of other dogs because she was in the past attacked twice by aggressive dogs. With watchful, positive and gradual reintroduction to dogs outdoors and to children, Clover will be able to learn to trust and feel safe again. Clover is presently living in harmony with another companion dog at home. She’s also lived happily for years as an only dog. A good eater, Clover is polite around food. She loves bowing for treats, attempting to catch treats in her mouth and doing small zoomies. She adores tummy rubs and will often stretch out her leg to your hand to ask you to hold her paw. Clover would be best suited to a quiet household without small children. She will do best in a quieter suburb rather than the City where she’s likely to encounter dogs around every corner. Clover is not cat tolerant. D.O.B.: 11/03/2015 M/C: 956000004861368 |
Paddy - aged 5 years
|
Talkin PaddyPaddy is such a handsome boy with his beautiful fine white coat and big red patches. He is very chilled and very well behaved around the house. He is thoroughly enjoying the company of 2 other canine companions.
His current foster carers feel he might do best in a home where there is someone home a LOT or at least with another dog. He loves his tucker, so is easy to feed, loves the car and gets in unassisted. He is toilet trained and if the door to outside is not open, he does come and ‘tell’ you that he needs to go out, even at night, although this is rare. Paddy sleeps peacefully inside at night in the lounge room or next to his foster carer’s bed. Paddy’s choice! Paddy ‘talks’ and ‘sings’ at you when it is time for his walk (his favourite thing). See video of ‘talking’ Paddy. Paddy was a bit dog reactive on lead when he first came into foster care. However he has responded extremely well to consistent training for this, with loads of positive reinforcement and treats for behaving appropriately. We recommend that his adopter continue with this. He does want to please, but Park walking could be a bit overwhelming for him. He will now mostly stand quietly when getting him ready for his walks. He can be quite strong on the lead at first, but he is being consistently trained to stop this, too and there is obvious progress everyday. Once his excitement about his walk settles down, he calms down nicely on the lead, with a bit of reminding. Paddy can be quite bouncy when excited, so not recommended for a family with young children or elderly family members, nor small dogs or pocket pets. Paddy is not cat tolerant. Gilbert - aged 4 years
|
Young, brave and curious boyGilbert is a laid back, brave and curious young dog. His first instinct with household noises (washing machine, vacuum, etc) is to go up and check them out. He walks well on the lead, somewhat blase about busy main roads or shopping centre streets. However, he is a strong boy, particularly when something like a dog barking peaks his interest and would therefore not be suitable for an elderly person or unsupervised child to walk him.
While he is still getting the hang of having a name, he obeys commands such as "no" or "out". He is toilet trained, sleeping through the night and booping you with his nose in the morning when he can't wait any longer. He can get in and out of a 4WD either laying down settled or with his nose out the window. He has shared his time in foster care with 2 other greyhounds (male and female) and would be well suited to a home with another medium to large dog. He thrives on human affection and company, often following you around the house, but this will settle down once he becomes comfortable in his forever home. He loves to be where the people are, pulling his bed into the lounge, so he can be with you while you watch TV, will make him very happy. He would need another dog if you work full time, or he would do just fine as an only dog if you are home quite a bit. He hasn’t been tested with small children (however showing no particular interest when passing them on walks) and fine with those 12+. Gilbert is not cat tolerant. Ally - aged 3 yearsKindly sponsored by Chris Wichmann for his first Father’s Day from his twin daughters Lola and Lottie and his adopted greyhound Hope
|
Active Ally
Miss Ally is full of beans - and full of love. She loves to zoom and would do best in a home with a backyard and a loving family to play with. You’ll love to watch her play and learn to be a pet.
She’s a happy, friendly girl with people and dogs, but isn’t cat tolerant. Right now, she’s loving the company of her foster sister, but could be a solo dog. This little lady eats well and loves a sneaky salt and vinegar chip. Ally would love two short walks or one longer walk each day, to help her use up her energy before a big snooze. If you’re looking for unconditional love, this sweet girl will be right up your All(e)y. Alice is not cat tolerant D.O.B.: 27/11/2019 M/C: 956000012179230 |
Possum - aged 3 years
|
You can’t hurry love
Brave little Possum had a rough start to life but is blossoming by the day. She started out wary of people and new situations, but she’s beginning to trust her foster family who have shown her unconditional love and patience. She’ll reward the kindness of her forever family by revealing more of her beautiful, loving personality as the weeks go by. You can’t hurry love, but Possum is worth the wait! Possum is fantastic on walks and car rides, and is very sweet with other dogs. She just needs a quiet home with a family who’s ready to take things at her pace. Bonus points if there’s another dog to show her the ropes! Your love will change Possum’s life and hers will change yours too. Possum is not cat tolerant. D.O.B.: 18/03/2020 M/C: 956000013068486 |
Blair - aged 2 years
|
Brave Blair
Blair is a well-behaved boy who loves to be loved! He is happiest in the company of human and canine friends. And how could you resist giving him all your affection
He walks well on lead and is curious about other dogs – but never reactive! He’s just excited to sniff ‘hello’. Thanks to his foster family, he’s learning when to contain his enthusiasm. Blair’s training has been a breeze, given he’ll do anything for a treat. Speaking of which, he’s learned to respond to his name and is working on ‘on your bed’. He’s also toilet trained and will let you know if he needs to go out in the night. He’s a very playful, energetic boy so would suit a home without young children. Two walks a day keep him entertained between naps. Blair came to his foster family a timid and stressed boy, but thanks to their endless love and affection, he’s learning to relax. Brave Blair is currently on medication for his anxiety, but with patience he will settle. Are you ready to show Blair how great pet life can be? Check him out in our YouTube channel Introducing Blair Blair is not cat tolerant. D.O.B.: 16/09/2020 M/C: 956000007837933 |
Foxy - aged 4 years
|
Cuddly Foxy
Foxy is a beautiful lady, her personality is beginning to shine more and more every day. She is very affectionateloves cuddles and kisses. Can you see Foxy's smile them in the photos? She is a happy Grey!
Foxy is also discovering life as a pet with the company of a young German Shepherd boy. So, she is just learning the beauty of playing with toys, going for walkies and learning new tricks. At home she is relax, Foxy is toilet trained and very well behaved inside the home. As most Greyhounds, she sleeps a lot. She is also responding to her name and has an excellent apetite. She walks very well on the lead, she is gentle and does not pull, she loves to sniff around the neighbourhood. Foxy is not very active, so she is more than happy to be your company when going for local shops or just a couple of 20 min walks. Foxy can sometimes get a bit nervous with loud noises, so homes with young children are not suitable for her. Foxy loves going for rides in the car, she needs a bit of assistance to get in, specially in large cars like SUV or UTEs, but once in, she relaxes and enjoys the tour. Want to watch a short video of Foxy living life as a pet? Check her out in our YouTube channel Introducing Foxy. Foxy is not cat tolerant. D.O.B.:23/10/2018 M/C: 956000005108250 |
Louie - aged 4 years
|
Cute, Gentle and Lovely 😍Louie is a quiet, gentle boy who loves people and rubbing his head against you with affection.
He gets excited to see you first thing in the morning. He enjoys going for walks but is still learning to like car rides. He doesn’t jump in just yet! so you have to help him but once in, he is no trouble at all. He is good on the lead and is polite to other dogs. So far he has been well behaved at her foster home and gets on with other two dogs he is living with. He would suit most homes including those with children older than toddlers. Louie is not cat tolerant. D.O.B.: 16/04/2019 M/C: 956000006354054 |
Trixie - aged 3 years
|
Toys LoverTrixie is a playful, energetic, affectionate, small 3 year old girl who is loving pet life. She is toilet trained and walks well on leash.
She LOVES toys and playtime. Her favourite activity after walkies is playing with all the stuffed toys in the toy box and loves when she has someone to throw them for her. Her foster carer works full time and she is happy to potter around the yard and snooze on her bed until the humans come home and then she does excited zoomies. She’s attended greyhound walks and promotion events and has taken it in her stride. Very friendly and excited to meet everyone. She’s in foster care with 2 other greyhounds. Want to watch a short video of Trixie enjoying life as a pet? Check her out in our YouTube channel Introducing Trixie. Trixie is not cat or hyperactive small dog friendly. Holly - aged 3 years
|
Squeaky Balls Fan 🥎⚽Holly is a lovely quiet lady who loves attention in the form of pats and cuddles, with no exuberance or over-excitement. Talking about excitement, she really loves toys. Just the sound of a squeak calls her attention in a second!
So, as you can imagine her favourite activity is chasing the ball and bringing it back to foster dad. She could literally be with a ball in her mouth for half an hour or more. She also likes to collect some interesting things, like the brush from the dustpan set and foster dad thongs, but she won't chew or destroy them at all! She understands some commands such as "on your bed" and "come here". She also travels well in the car, but still needs a hand to jump in the back seat of the truck, specially if it's too high. Holly is more than okay staying at home by herself for several hours - just goes back to bed. No issues. She also walks well and has been calm with most dogs on the lead. Holly is not cat or pocket pet tolerant. D.O.B.: 24/04/2020 M/C: 956000012160848 |
